The Kalia Scheme’s Objectives

Agriculture and farmers are essential to ending poverty and improving everyone’s quality of life. Through the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation or KALIA Scheme, the State Government of Odisha intends to boost agricultural success. Odisha state farmers want more control over agricultural funding, which drives creative programs like KALIA. By improving farmers’ access to financial services, especially small and marginal landholders, agricultural output and income can be increased.

With a budget of about Rs. 10,000 crores, the Kalia Yojana’s objective is to help debt-ridden farmers escape their financial woes and directly combat poverty by supporting disadvantaged agricultural households, landless labourers, and marginal cultivators in the state. About 92% of Odisha’s farmers, including nearly all landless farmers, will profit from KALIA, a government program.

  • Complete Assistance During Cultivation

Over the course of five growing seasons, each farm family will receive a total of Rs.25,000/- in help to be used toward the purchase of inputs like seeds, fertilizer, pesticides, and labour. The plan went into force at the start of the 2018-2019 Rabi Season.

  • Comprehensive Assistance for People’s Basic Needs

Each landless agricultural household would get one thousand two hundred and fifty rupees (Rs.12,500/-) to be used toward agricultural ancillary activities such the purchase of a mini-layer unit, duckery unit, fisheries kits for fisherman, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, etc. Our state’s SC and ST populations will feel this the most.

  • Help for Agricultural Families

The government has suggested giving Rs. 10,000/- annually to each household to help low-income farmers and landless agricultural labourers afford food, clothing, and housing through the Kalia Yojana scheme. Older, disabled, or sick farm workers, as well as those without land, are particularly vulnerable.

  • Future Insurance Program for Farmers and Farm Workers

All account holders between the ages of 18 and 50 who pay a nominal fee of Rs 330/- would be eligible for life insurance coverage of Rs 2.00 lakh. The farmers’ annual premium of Rs.165 would be paid for by the state of Odisha. Every savings bank account holder between the ages of 18 and 50 can purchase personal accident coverage of Rs.2.00 lakh for just Rs.12/- per year. Because of the state’s generous support, farmers in Odisha would only have to pay Rs.12 in premiums. Odisha will cover the whole Rs.12/- yearly payout for anyone between the ages of 51 and 70.

  • Zero-Interest Loan to Farmers

For low-income landless labourers, cultivators, sharecroppers, and agricultural households, Gram Panchayats can approve petitions for a Cop Loan of up to Rs 50,000. This comprehensive plan is based on the conviction that making loans to creditworthy borrowers will stimulate economic development and social progress, thereby reducing poverty.
